GASP Motor Project

The GASP Motor Project runs evening sessions – Monday, Wednesday and Thursday – for 14 to 19 year old motor enthusiasts from mainstream education, or for those who may require a diversionary activity.

We can also run courses for youth groups, schools and those students working towards their Duke of Edinburgh Silver and Gold Awards.

We welcome young people who are either new to mechanics or who wish to broaden their skills. The evening sessions give an opportunity to learn the basics of how a vehicle operates and, for some, provide a first chance to start working on engines. Evening students are taught how to maintain and repair vehicles, and learn how to build off-road and track karts. At GASP you can also discover how to explore new technologies, such as building Greenpower electric kit cars.

AQA accreditation is available to every student attending our evening sessions. You may also be trained to drive track karts off-road, so you know what’s safe and legal, and to study the Highway Code.

You’ll get more confident as you get more skilled. You’ll learn just what it means to be responsible for a vehicle. And you’ll find it’s a great way to develop practical skills and confidence about motor engineering. Some of our students start to think about a job in motor engineering – and going on to college or an apprenticeship.
